Romanian electricity producer Hidroelectrica has launched a 31.6 million euro tender for the Tudor Vladimirescu solar power plant in Braila County. The 45 MW project, dormant since 2012 due to the company’s insolvency, covers 55 hectares of Hidroelectrica-owned land near high-voltage corridors and substations, facilitating grid connection.
The contract includes full delivery of the project: design, manufacturing and procurement, transport and site logistics, preparatory works, equipment installation, on-site testing, and commissioning. Funding will come from Hidroelectrica’s own resources, with completion targeted within three years.
Hidroelectrica is accelerating its solar expansion. In addition to Tudor Vladimirescu, the company has signed the Nufarul floating solar project on the Olt River and is pursuing the acquisition of four operational solar assets totaling around 360 MW of capacity.
The utility also operates the Crucea wind farm and remains Romania’s largest electricity producer, with over 6,400 MW of installed hydro capacity.
