Greece: Public call for solar power plant installation in family homes opens 6 June

The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund has announced a new public initiative to support the installation of solar power plants on family homes. Starting 6 June, eligible homeowners can apply for co-financing to help cover the costs of installing photovoltaic systems for personal electricity use.

This initiative targets the installation of solar power systems on the roofs of existing family houses or nearby auxiliary structures. To qualify, photovoltaic modules must have a minimum efficiency of 18%. Additionally, only individual homeowners who were registered residents at the property when the solar system was activated can apply.

Eligible projects include those where the solar power plant has been installed and operational since 1 January 2025. The Fund will co-finance up to 50% of the eligible costs, with a maximum of 600 euros per kilowatt (kW) of the system’s nominal power.

Applications will be accepted starting 6 June and will remain open until 31 December 2025 or until all allocated funds have been distributed.
