Bulgaria: TPP Bobov Dol reports strong Q1 2025 profit surge amid revenue growth

Bulgarian coal-fired power plant TPP Bobov Dol posted a net profit of €5.1 million in the first quarter of 2025, significantly up from €1.35 million during the same period last year. The company’s total revenues soared to €64.6 million, marking an 84% year-on-year increase.

Operating costs also rose sharply, reaching €59.6 million in Q1 2025—an increase of 76.3% compared to the first three months of 2024. Despite the higher expenditures, the revenue growth outpaced costs, resulting in a notable boost to the plant’s profitability.

Located in southwestern Bulgaria, TPP Bobov Dol is a 630 MW coal-fired facility commissioned in 2000. The plant was privatized in 2008 and is fully owned by local energy consortium Energy MK.
