Electricity trading on Albania’s ALPEX day-ahead market increased in August, with volumes reaching 244.5 GWh. Activity was up 8% from July and 39.6% compared with the same month a year earlier. Trading for the Albanian bidding zone totalled 166.2 GWh.
The average market-clearing price for the Albanian bidding zone was €146.88/MWh. The value of transactions reached about €67.4 million, representing a 73.5% year-on-year increase. This growth rate exceeded the rise in physical volumes as wholesale electricity prices remained elevated.
The reported figures point to an expanding role for organised exchange trading in Albania as liquidity develops and regional market integration progresses.
