OX2 Romania, the local subsidiary of Swedish OX2 Group, has acquired three new wind projects totaling 235 MW from Future Power, further expanding its footprint in Romania’s rapidly growing renewable energy sector.
The new sites are located in the Vaslui and Vrancea counties, bringing OX2’s Romanian portfolio to over 1.1 GW. The company now manages approximately one-third of all wind capacity currently under construction in Romania, part of a national pipeline of roughly 600 MW.
Lacramioara Diaconu-Pintea, Vice President and Country Manager of OX2 Romania, highlighted that the acquisition supports the company’s long-term strategy of combining organic growth with targeted takeovers. Over the past four years, OX2 has implemented in Romania its integrated global model, overseeing all stages from land acquisition and permitting to financing, PPAs, construction, and long-term operations. The company remains focused on delivering bankable projects with defined commissioning schedules, attracting both domestic and international investors.
The three newly purchased projects are expected to become operational between 2028 and 2030, depending on approval timelines.
In addition, OX2 holds early-stage wind developments in Constanța, Brăila, and Galați, regions known for strong wind potential. Across Romania, OX2 is active in nine onshore wind developments, with a portfolio that includes:
- 195 MW already under construction,
- 766 MW of additional wind projects in development, and
- 150 MW of solar and storage projects progressing through the pipeline.
This expansion underscores OX2 Romania’s commitment to scaling renewable energy capacity and supporting the country’s transition to a greener energy system.
