Unit 6 at Bulgaria’s Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant is back online following its annual maintenance, reconnecting to the national electricity grid on the evening of 1 December.
The maintenance program, which started on 25 October 2025, included thorough preventive inspections, servicing of critical systems, and all tasks required under the plant’s annual upkeep schedule. During this overhaul, the unit also received a new load of nuclear fuel for its 31st operating cycle. Plant engineers highlighted that these measures are designed to enhance operational safety and support the facility’s long-term performance.
In line with operational procedures, Unit 6 is gradually increasing output through a step-by-step power ramp. Meanwhile, Unit 5 continues to operate according to Bulgaria’s electricity production plan.
Earlier in the year, Unit 6 underwent a short-term outage to repair a coolant leak in the third steam generator. The precautionary shutdown was implemented to maintain strict safety standards and ensure reliable electricity generation.
