Shikun & Binui Energy has commenced commercial operations at a 71 MW solar power plant in Satu Mare, located in northwestern Romania. The facility began supplying electricity to the local grid in August, following final approval from the national regulator ANRE.
This project marks the company’s first solar asset in Romania and reflects its broader strategy to expand renewable energy across Europe. CJR Renewables served as the contractor for the project, while financing was arranged through Raiffeisen Bank with a loan secured in 2023.
Shikun & Binui Energy is also advancing other renewable energy projects in Romania. In June 2024, its subsidiary Green Energy Dynamic received technical approval for a 376 MW Gold Wind onshore wind farm in Constanta County, scheduled for completion by the end of 2028. Additionally, the company secured funding in 2024 for another 101 MW solar project in the country.
The company currently manages a total renewable portfolio of 6.2 GW, including 3.1 GW already in operation, and operates beyond Israel, with active projects in the United States, Romania, and Italy.
