Romania: Waldevar Energy to build 200 MW flagship solar plant for Entek Elektrik

Romania’s solar market is set to welcome a flagship project as local contractor Waldevar Energy signs an agreement to deliver a large-scale solar facility for Entek Elektrik, a subsidiary of Turkey’s Tupras. The project will feature a minimum installed capacity of 200 MW.

Under the contract, Waldevar will take on full EPC responsibility—engineering, procurement, and construction—while also providing operations and maintenance services during the first two years of commercial operation.

The solar plant is planned for Niculesti, placing it within southern Romania’s growing renewable energy corridor. Once completed, it will support Entek Elektrik’s strategy to expand its low- and zero-carbon energy portfolio in the region.

For Waldevar, this represents the largest EPC project to date, adding to a pipeline of nearly 2.5 GW of contracted projects across Romania and other European markets, underlining the company’s rapid growth in the utility-scale solar sector.

The deal follows closely after Waldevar’s selection by Doral Group Renewable Energy Resources to execute EPC works for a series of smaller solar projects totaling 14 MW in Romania’s Braila and Calarasi counties.
