At the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation 2025 (P-TEC 2025) forum in Athens, Romanian Nova Power & Gas, Transgaz, and Greek Atlantic-See LNG Trade signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation on liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply and regional energy diversification.
The agreement aims to establish joint procurement mechanisms that will reduce reliance on single-source imports and promote long-term energy security across Southeastern Europe.
Beyond LNG coordination, the memorandum envisions expanded collaboration along the Vertical Gas Corridor, including potential projects for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) power links, fiber-optic backbone infrastructure, and AI data centers—positioning the corridor as a major energy and digital hub connecting the Balkans and Central Europe.
Building on existing U.S.–Southeast Europe P-TEC partnerships, the initiative strengthens transatlantic energy cooperation and underscores Romania’s growing role in advancing regional energy integration and technology-driven development.
