After receiving urban-technical approval in September of last year, the local company Solar Global has advanced its plans by submitting a request to the Environmental Protection Agency to assess whether a full environmental impact study is necessary for its proposed solar power plant in Cetinje.
A solar irradiation assessment conducted by Sedam-ING concluded that the location is highly suitable for a 200 MW solar facility. The plant is expected to generate approximately 438 GWh of electricity annually.
The proposed installation will cover an area of about 119 hectares and will include 256,000 solar panels, supported by 80 inverters and 40 transformers to ensure efficient energy conversion and seamless integration into the power grid.
According to the project overview and environmental impact analysis, experts have determined that the construction and operation of the facility are unlikely to cause significant environmental harm. Additionally, there are no nearby developments that might lead to cumulative effects on the surrounding ecosystems.
