Hungary: Over 21,000 households benefit from solar and battery grant program

Hungarian homeowners have received over 112 million euros in grants as part of a government-backed initiative aimed at encouraging the adoption of rooftop solar panels and battery storage systems, according to the Ministry of Energy.

The program has supported more than 21,000 households, with total approved funding reaching approximately 224 million euros. So far, completed projects under the scheme have added 66 megawatts (MW) of solar power capacity and 106 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery storage to Hungary’s energy infrastructure.

Running for one year, the initiative allowed households to apply for grants of up to 12,700 euros, covering about two-thirds of the overall investment. On average, each participating household received around 10,400 euros to support their transition to cleaner and more energy-efficient technologies.
