The Government of the Republic of Srpska (RS), at its latest session, reviewed the issue of rising voltage levels in the transmission network, warning that the problem could lead to serious disruptions in the electricity system, the economy, and households in RS and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as impact interconnected grids. The cabinet called for urgent action through the procurement and installation of shunt reactors across the transmission system.
Elektroprijenos BiH was urged to speed up the purchase and installation of this equipment. The Government also instructed the Ministry of Energy and Mining, along with RS representatives in joint state institutions, to establish legal conditions enabling other interested legal entities to construct and install shunt reactors independently.
