Bosnia and Herzegovina: RiTE Ugljevik reports €11.6 million loss in first nine months of 2025, TPP Gacko returns to operation after overhaul

The largest electricity producer in the Republic of Srpska, coalmine and thermal power plant RiTE Ugljevik, reported a loss of 11.6 million euros in the first nine months of 2025, compared to a loss of 15.3 million euros during the same period last year.

According to the company’s financial statement, total revenues for the reporting period amounted to 60.5 million euros, marking a 1.2 percent increase compared to a year earlier. At the same time, total expenses declined by 4.1 percent year-on-year, reaching 72 million euros in the first nine months of 2025.

RiTE Ugljevik, together with RiTE Gacko, plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability of the Republic of Srpska’s electricity system. This year, both plants underwent scheduled overhauls, resulting in a rare simultaneous downtime. Thermal Power Plant Gacko resumed operations this morning after completing its major overhaul ahead of schedule, with total costs estimated at around 10.2 million euros.
